Rebecca Week 7 - Soccer
Soccer is my favorite sport. Football is too aggressive, baseball feels too exclusive, golf is too slow-paced, and I have a grudge against basketball. It's possible that I like it because it was my first sport; either way, I stand by it as the best.
Brazil and Argentina have always been huge rivals in the World Cup. Luckily, my parents are from Colombia and Venezuela; the latter never was too involved in soccer. I'm embarrassed to say that Colombia isn't going to the World Cup this year. We aren't sure which team to back this year; even so, we will enjoy watching it together. My mom recently told me that her family has always collected championship player cards, but she stopped this tradition here in the US because she didn't see them in stores. Another part of organizing the player cards is trading your repeated players, but my mom doesn't know who she could trade with here.
Does anyone want to trade trading cards for my mom this year? Do you have any other collections?

Soccer is a much larger part of the Hispanic culture than American culture. I don't think I have heard anyone mention it at all, even though the first game of the World Cup is in just a few weeks, on November 20th. This championship only occurs once every four years, allowing all the qualifiers to take place and the hosting countries to prepare for "millions of fans" (Britannica). This year, it will be hosted by Qatar. It is the first-ever World Cup held in the Middle East or the later months; typically, it is held around May-July. They decided to hold the games after the start of autumn to avoid the brutal summer heat.Brazil and Argentina have always been huge rivals in the World Cup.
