Joshua Grynbaum Week 9: DKJA Boys Basketball Season Begins!

Earlier today, both the Junior Varsity and Varsity Donna Klein Eagles faced off against Trinity Christian Academy and both sought out the victory. For the JV team, this was their season opener, and this is what all their practices have been leading up to thus far. The game started well for the Eagles. They were able to keep a steady lead throughout the first half, while also staying consistent with the number of rebounds and points they were scoring, in addition to limiting the number of turnovers. By the end of the first half, they gained a hefty 20-point lead. Once the second half started, their fatigue was quite obvious. They were not scoring as many points as they previously had and were not hustling back on defense or for the rebounds. Luckily, they were still able to play well enough to come out victorious, and secure their first win of the 2022-2023 season. Following this victory, the Varsity team aimed to achieve the same goal as the JV team accomplished.

To support the Varsity team, most of the JV players decided to stay after their game and cheer for their teammates. The start of the game was pretty neck-and-neck, with both teams scoring similar points and having similar playstyles, and by the end of the first half, the score was within a difference of 3 points. This playstyle continued throughout the second half right up until the final minutes of the game. The opposing team was shooting free throws, and the supporters of the Eagles were making noise in order to throw him off. This worked the first time, but after seeing it once, the shooter was able to block it out completely. Once he made his last free throw, the game was all tied up, and with only 20 seconds left on the clock, the Eagles only had one play to win it all. The starting point guard brought the ball up the court, made a few swift moves on the defender, and they passed it out to Joey Siemens, and he ended up drilling the bucket to secure the victory. The crowd the riled up and filled with joy to see their beloved Eagle win yet another matchup.
