Josh Rubin - Week 7 - Fantasy Basketball League Begins!

Every year 10 of my friends and I put together a fantasy basketball league. We each put in twenty-five dollars, and the winner takes home $250. In fantasy basketball, you draft a team of players and earn points based on their performance. Points are awarded for every stat they record, for example, a shot made. Some stats, such as blocks and steals, count as more points than a typical made shot. I took my league's point system into account while picking my players. We had a very competitive draft, with everyone preparing who they would pick in what order. It lasted about an hour and a half. Ultimately, I believe I drafted the best team since I focused on drafting guards who would record the most steals.

This week was our season's first matchup, and I played my friend Matthew. My team outperformed his by a ton, and I won by over 400 points. Of course, the season has just begun, and one matchup won't determine the best team, but I also got the most points out of all my friends. I have the only team in the league that has four players averaging over 40 points. This leads me to believe that my team is the best. I hope my players stay consistent with their stats and keep me as a winning team.

I recommend that other people interested in sports make or join a fantasy league. Not all leagues cost money to join, like mine. Fantasy sports are a great way to keep yourself engaged in the sport you enjoy watching.
