Week 10
A Weekend in the Cayman Islands

Over this past weekend for Thanksgiving break, my family decided to take a short vacation to the Cayman Islands. The Cayman Islands are a set of small islands south of Cuba and roughly an hour flight from Miami, the perfect and most time efficent overseas vacation. On the first day there, my sister and I unfortunately had to take the first afternoon to do homework: me working on SAT practice for this upcoming Saturday and my sister getting ready to graduate college. The next day, Saturday, was much more eventful. My dad and I had the opportunity to take a helicopter tour of the islands which was awesome. We flew over the water to where many stingrays gathered at Sting Ray City, then went "Helicopter Surfing." For those who don't know what that is, the pilot dove the helicopter downwards forcing everyone to float in their seat for a few heartracing moments, then return to normal. I know understand why my mom and sister did not want to come with us. The rest of the day was spent with practicing for the SAT, which as you might already be able to tell has been a constant burden. On our last full day, Sunday, my family and I spent the day at the beach and with water toys. We rented a jet ski for a little bit which was a lot of fun and I might have scared my mom on for going way too fast (which is the perfect speed for me). Although I had to leave the beach for a few hours to do SAT practice (yet again!), our last day was still fun and relaxing. Have you ever been to the Cayman Islands, or gone helicopter surfing?
Only you would do that much homework on a vacation! That sounds super fun, though.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a perfect way to spend the holidays and seems like you had a lot of fun (except for the SAT part).
ReplyDeleteThe helicopter tour sounds really fun. I hav e been to similar places before but not the Cayman Islands, although I know a lot of people who go there.
ReplyDeleteSuper cool trip Holden. Looks like an awesome spot for photos. Working on SAT practice doesnt sound like much fun, especially while being on vacation. The grind never stops.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a blast Holden. I have been to many tropical destinations and the way you describe your experience in the Cayman Islands, that may need to be my next visit.
