Eva Week 6- My Life on my Wall
My favorite part of my room is my bulletin boards. I have two boards on the wall in front of my desk, and I can look up at them while I am working. They contain little pieces of my life dating back to 2017. You can learn a lot about who I am and what I enjoy from staring at them.
Front and center are four paper bills: 50 Mexican pesos, 5000 Colombian pesos, a US dollar bill, and, the most recent addition, 20 Israeli shekels. They remind me of the places I have traveled to in the past couple of years and the exciting times I experienced there. The dollar is a tradition I picked up from Rebecca’s family where everyone takes a dollar on New Year’s Eve, and we keep it the entire year as good luck.
To the right of my bills are a collection of vinyl stickers. They started in a small corner of my bulletin board and have spread to fill half of my main board and almost my entire second board. The stickers come from many different places and are each little memories from my life. I received a large portion of them from robotics competitions. Every team gives out swag, and when you multiply that by the nearly 550 teams you interact with in a season, you get lots and lots of swag.
After my sticker collection is my enamel pin and button collection. Most of them, again, are from robotics. First Lego League competitions give out enamel pins of the season’s theme, and I have a pin from every year I participated (four years starting in 5th grade). Each year, my current robotics team makes a team button to match the theme, so I have three representing all seven years I have participated in robotics. I also have some Nasa-related pins from competitions- Nasa started handing out Artemis swag years before it became a thing.
Finally, there are my random-items-I-can-pin-to-a-bulletin-board section. I have one of each color of Donna Klein’s wristbands, reminding me of the school’s Covid-19 days. I also have some keychains, including my favorite of a cat in a sushi roll playing ping-pong (thank you Milo). I have my first Cricut project, my favorite string bracelets, some cut-outs of cats wearing bunny ears, a crochet flower, and much more.
What is your favorite part of your room and why?

That's actually really cool and unique. My own is pretty bland and doesn't have much besides a desk to do my schoolwork. I think having something like that in your room makes it feel special.
ReplyDeleteI love your bulletin boards! It's awesome because many of your robotics and traveling souvenirs also bring memories for me. My favorite thing in my room has to be my desk set up with my keyboard. I spend so much time there that I make sure to keep it organized.
