Milo Malcolm Blog Post Week 5: Why I Listen to Podcasts, and Why You Should Too

Recently, I've been listening to many podcasts as the school year started again. On the way to school, while I’m driving in the car, before I sleep at night, everywhere! I love podcasts and being able to do something else while absorbing knowledge and media. During the week before I went back to school, I watched many great TV shows that I never had the time to watch. I watched horror movies, thriller shows, oldies, everything. Before that, I had never really gotten into TV shows or movies, which was new for me. Watching all of those and returning to school, where I didn’t have much spare time to watch media, was a weird adjustment. A few friends told me I should try listening to a horror podcast called “The Magnus Archives” (TMA). The main plot focuses on an archive of mysterious events that happen over time, and the archivist and other main characters that work at the institute try to help solve the overarching mystery and help prevent armageddon. I really enjoyed everything about this show, from the plot to the characters to the acting and sound effects; everything was amazing. The whole show pulled together aspects of the plot that wouldn’t expect to be followed up on, all the loose ends were tied together by the end of the show, and the style of the show was creative and artistic, and I loved it. While listening to podcasts over watching TV shows might not be for everyone, it really helped me enjoy media I love while still having time to do other things I need to focus on. I could clean my room while listening to TMA or making dinner, but choosing podcasts over movies has helped my routine. I recommend it to anyone who has a busy lifestyle but still loves consuming content.

  3. I have never actually sat and listened to a podcast for my enjoyment as I feel like they aren't entertaining enough but I might have to try it now.

  4. That's a really smart way or reorganizing your time! I had one podcast I listened to pretty steadily for a while, but then I fell back into just listening to music. Maybe I will try TMA to get back into podcasts.
