Week 2: A Trip to Spain

As a kid who spent most of his childhood in Toronto's dull and cold winters, the news that I was going to be traveling to Spain with my family over the summer had me on curious notice. I didn’t really know what to expect; I’ve never been to a European country up until this point in my life. I really had no expectations. I was ready to go in open-minded with whatever experience was brought upon me on this trip. Now that it’s been 2 months since I came back from Spain, I can easily say that this was a trip to remember.

Over the course of 2 weeks, my family and I went to 5 different cities. Barcelona, Marbella, Malaga, Rhonda and Sevilla. Each city had something different to offer and stood out in its own way. The first city we went to was Barcelona, which was easily my favorite of the trip. Barcelona left me speechless. The food, people, architecture, energy, music, and lifestyle was something I was so unfamiliar with, yet they still left me in awe. Everything about it was beautiful and satisfying to see with my own eyes. After Barcelona, we went to Malaga. Malaga was completely different as it showed what living is like in Spain. The lifestyle was so diverse and intriguing, I absolutely loved it. Following Malaga, came Marbella which was the one city that felt familiar in a way, as it really reminded me of Miami. It’s known for designer brands, partying, and general business. This was probably my least favorite just because it didn’t feel much different from Miami, however, it was still great to see for one time. Finally, came Rhonda and Sevilla. These 2 cities were very similar as they were known for their history and ancient landmarks. The castles, buildings, statues, and art were absolutely beautiful to see and really had me feeling like I was in a movie.

If I had the choice to go back again, I wouldn’t think twice. These cities brought me a fresh experience that I greatly enjoyed. Now that I’ve seen Spain and what it has to offer, I can only imagine how much else there is to offer in other European countries.

Have you been to any European countries?
