Hudson Gray Week 1: The Unforeseen Triumph
A little more than a year ago, my family and I moved to Florida from New York. This was a decision made by my parents that was very unexpected for me. From the day I found out, to the day I moved, I was filled with a variety of emotions. When people asked me how I felt about it I would usually tell them “I have mixed feelings.” This was the case, but overall there was more fear than anything. When I look back at it there was way more for me to be excited about then I realized. Now, with total confidence I can say that my move to Florida was very successful.
There have been many factors that have contributed to this triumph. On a daily basis, I am doing things unattainable in New York. For example, today I was able to drive five minutes from school to play golf for the school team. In New York the closest public golf course was twenty minutes from my house and I could not play year round. Florida has given me the opportunity to discover my love for golf. Since moving here, my game has improved tremendously as well as my enjoyment and passion for the sport. Golf is just one of the many things that has made my move to Florida so marvelous.
One of the deciding factors for our move was that my grandparents live in Delray and my mom is an only child. She wanted to be closer to them and give me the opportunity to spend more quality time as they age. I have fully taken advantage of that and play golf with my grandfather frequently. We see them at least once a week, as opposed to twice a year. I feel so much more connected to them, and my family as a whole. Do you any of you enjoy playing golf or have you ever moved or experienced a change similar to this in your life?

ReplyDeleteGreat story. I love golfing.
ReplyDeleteThat's great that you can now enjoy golf with your grandpa. I have experienced a change similar to this ever since my grandma moved here from Israel because we spend a lot of quality time together.
ReplyDeleteIt's great that you were able to find one of the benefits of Florida. I've had an almost reverse experience to yours; my parents moved to the US before I was born and eventually led my grandparents here as well about 8 years ago.
