Joshua Rubin Week 2 - RHS Productions Shut Down
Over the past few weeks, my friend Eitan and I decided to take our filmmaking talents to YouTube by creating some of the best videos Donna Klein has ever produced. We gained nearly 100 subscribers in just days and were projected to gain hundreds more. The short videos are fun walk-around videos that feature student life on campus.
By the end of the first week of uploading videos, we were known all over the school. In addition to all the kids and teachers, the campus federation also watched them but had different feelings about them. As soon as the federation became aware of the videos, Eitan and I were contacted to remove them promptly. They were seen as a security risk to the school. This was such disappointing news for us. That night we pulled the videos from the internet and began to brainstorm how we were going to make more videos.
We are still unsure how we can share videos with Donna Klein families that can be easily seen and shareable. Every day, kids from different grades ask when and where the RHS videos are. All we are able to answer is that we are unsure and hope to bring them back soon. In the coming weeks, Eitan and I have meetings set up with the head of the school and federation to resolve this issue. We have so many fun ideas and can't wait to share them with the Donna Klein community!
Do you have any ideas for how we can continue to make/share videos without being a security risk to the school?

Since I am not 100% sure as to the exact reason for why this is a breach in security, I think you should ask the federation what you would need to do in order to be able to continue to film. Great blog Joshua!

ReplyDeleteI personally do not see a problem with RHS productions. It is a fun way to interact with students at RHS and the Donna Klein lower and middle school. I don't see why the federation took a=you down and I think you guys should definitely fight for RHS Productions. #FREERHSPRODUCTIONS
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing RHS Production videos during assemblies. I hope to see more funny videos in the future. I wish you guys luck in the fight for RHS Productions.
