Jonathan Hus week one: Reviewing the Revered Food Reviewer


    On the 30th of January, 2022, a 16-year-old boy along with his closest friends recorded the first of many sensational videos that would later be recognized as a staple of the teenage world around the South Florida area. In this video, the group of boys decided to put Ethan Elisha -the face of the Tik Tok page- to a tasting of a variety of spicy chips. Although the video was very entertaining, it was only until the legendary ghost pepper video that Ethan established his name in the food review community of South Florida(https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRPN3gDQ/).


Alongside this, he even attracted the attention of many of his mentors and teachers who almost posed a threat to the newfound success of the page. Due to the condition Ethan was left in after consuming the pepper, he and his friends had to do everything within their power to keep the videos going. After a series of lengthy negotiations, Ethan and his close friends were able to continue to entertain the community as long as they didn't show affiliation to their school in the videos.


Just like that, the page continued to grow. Over the course of the many following months, Ethan expanded his pallet and tried foods such as Universal’s mammoth-sized doughnut, a variety of different pizzas, and handmade chocolate from the southern tip of Israel. As Ethan found his page continuing to gain traction, he found himself being recognized by many others in his community that he had previously not known. I was able to get Ethan's opinion on this situation and how he feels about all his newfound fame. “It’s weird because I'm only 16 and personally I don't think I’m famous, but when people come up to me I really feel like I'm “That Guy”. " Ethan’s self-esteem has definitely grown as a result of his page and all the recognition he is receiving. To date, he is known by many Jewish high schools in South Florida and even by teens in public and other private schools. Many of Donna Klein's own alumni tune into Ethan's weekly reviews. Furthermore, he often gets recognized in public by others as “The Food Review Guy”, or “Mr. Food Reviews”.


Fast forwarding closer to the present, Ethan is still active and continues to push out almost weekly videos on his page. However, he is also expanding his horizons and is dabbling in other endeavors such as his new Tik Tok page, “Ethan Leo and Josh dancing”(Ethan, Leo, and Josh), and his new school vlog channel “RHS Productions”(RHS productions). Aside from this, Ethan still remembers his roots and continues to review whatever food would be great to share with the world. He loves listening to his viewers and trying whatever they throw at him.     I think it would be really cool for Eitan to try a burger from Houston's. It could take some convincing, however, because Eitan does not like to do many food reviews in restaurants.

    I think that Eitan should review some chicken tikka masala. Personally, I have never had it but my friends have told me they like it.

    I think during the shabbaton, it would be cool for Eitan to try one of those bug lolipops, often sold at Universal. I would watch that video!

    I would recommend that during the High Holidays, Ethan should food review Jewish meals. For example, during Passover, he could food review the part where u make a sandwich of matzah and charoset. I think that this would be a both funny experience, as well as invoking the Jewish traditions. On another note, I really love the "Ethan Josh Leo Dancing" Tik Tok page. They create such great Tik Toks that put a smile on my face every time I watch them! :)

     Some of you may be wondering why I am submitting this blog a day late… Did I forget? Am I just irresponsible? The true reason is that last night I had the honor of attending the Donna Klein Jewish Academy Open House. Aaron Mibab 3: Hazamir

Last year and this summer I had the privilege of participating in the Jewish teen choir named Hazamir. Hazamir is an international singing group, with its chapters primarily located in the United States and Israel. In order to participate in Hazamir, one must be able to sing but the ability to sight-read is not necessary. Its music and events have led me to a larger repertoire, increased understanding of music, and more friends. I am so excited to continue singing in Hazamir this year too! Despite Hazamir’s amazing offerings, the Boca Raton Chapter is too small and needs more numbers.  Hazamir has almost weekly meetings where participants practice and learn the provided music. These practices typically last 2 hours and are very casual and fun! Last year, I became very close to the other members of my chapter through the songs we learned. Aaron Mibab 6: Recycling at Donna Klein

     Ever since I was little, I remember my father taking out the recycling or doing activities relating to recycling. He would remove the tabs from coke cans and collect them; I remember he had a large bag or two where the metal tabs stayed. I also remember “helping” him take apart boxes so more could fit into the recycling bins. Recycling was important to him because it is taking care of the environment and world that his children will inherit.
